Head, Brand Marketing and Corporate Communications

Omede Odekina is a seasoned strategic communications and brand leadership executive with over two decades of experience spanning corporate communications, brand management, media relations, stakeholder engagement, and reputation management across the banking, energy, and corporate sectors.
He currently serves as the Head of Brand, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC), where he provides strategic leadership for brand positioning, corporate reputation, media engagement, customer communications, and integrated marketing initiatives. In this role, Omede is responsible for shaping AEDC’s public narrative, strengthening stakeholder trust, and driving market-facing communications that support the company’s mandate of delivering reliable electricity and enhanced customer experience across its franchise area.
Prior to joining AEDC, Omede was Head of External Relations at United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, where he led the development and execution of integrated external relations strategies that strengthened the bank’s brand reputation across Africa and globally. He also previously served as Media Relations Executive at Heirs Holdings, managing the group’s media presence across multiple jurisdictions and playing a key role in elevating corporate visibility. During this period, he contributed significantly to the launch of the Tony Elumelu Foundation Entrepreneurship Programme, Africa’s largest philanthropy focused on empowering entrepreneurs.

Earlier in his career, Omede established and led the Corporate Communications function at ASO Savings and Loans Plc, Nigeria’s leading primary mortgage institution, where he developed strategic communication frameworks and strengthened stakeholder engagement to support business growth and brand equity.

In addition to his corporate leadership roles, Omede is a faculty member at the UBA Academy, where he facilitates training in Marketing and Corporate Communications Strategy, Brand Management, and Crisis Communications. He also serves as Publicity Secretary of the Association of Corporate Affairs Managers of Banks (ACAMB).

Omede holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Kogi State University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Lagos. He is an alumnus of the Lagos Business School Management Development Programme. He has also coordinated high-level international communication initiatives, including the launch of a faith-based reconciliation programme in Nigeria for the Tony Blair Faith Foundation and the Archbishop of Canterbury, an effort that earned him a formal commendation from the office of former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair.
He is an Associate Registered Practitioner in Advertising (ARPA) with the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON), a member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR), and a member of the National Institute of Marketing of Nigeria (MNIMN).
