Victor Ojelabi is the Acting Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Abuja Electricity Distribution Plc. (AEDC). He is a graduate of Accounting (Second Class Upper) from the University of Lagos and a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN). A seasoned and highly accomplished financial control, audit, risk, and treasury management professional with over 26 years of experience. He is an alumnus of Executive Education at Instead, Fontainebleau, France. He was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Business Administration in Leadership and Strategic Management by Kingston University and Maverick Business Academy, London. He is a recipient of an Achiever’s Award in recognition of his consistent and robust impact in banking administration and contribution to nation-building by the University of Lagos ALUMNI association. He was Secretary General, Risk Management Association of Nigeria (RIMA). He possesses an ACCA certification in International Financial Reporting.
He started his career with Nigeria-American Merchant Bank Limited (NAMBL) now FCMB where he rose to the position of Head, Internal Control before moving to the Internal Control and Audit department of Zenith International Bank Plc in 1998. Victor left Zenith Bank and joined Bond Bank in 2002 as a pioneer Chief Inspector. He set up the Internal Control & Compliance and Risk Management Departments of the bank. He left Bond Bank (now Polaris Bank) as a Senior Manager and joined Express Discount Limited in June 2007 as the Group Head, Risk Management and later Group Head, Treasury before leaving to join Ancestral Holding as Group CFO in 2014. In 2018 he co-started Verivic Investments Ltd as Principal and Chief Strategist. By March 2020, he joined Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) where he was the Chief Compliance Officer with responsibility for the Operational Compliance Department and later, the Audit & Risk function. He set up the Operational Compliance Department of the IBEDC, reorganized and repositioned the Audit and Risk Departments for effectiveness and optimal performance. Prior to his appointment as Acting Managing Director, he was Chief Internal Auditor at AEDC.
