Irene Nwankwo is a distinguished business assurance expert with over 15 years of leadership in internal audit, control, compliance, and risk management across financial services, energy, hospitality, and FMCG sectors. Certified in CIA, CISA, CFSA, and IFRS, Irene is a member of the Institute of Directors and a board member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) Nigeria. She holds an SMP from Lagos Business School. Previously, Irene led internal audit at Transcorp Hotels Plc, transforming audit practices and strengthening governance. Her career began at KPMG, where she excelled in consulting and rose to Assistant Manager. Irene is also a dedicated mentor and educator. As Chief Internal Auditor at AEDC, she implements robust controls and drives operational excellence while mentoring the next generation of audit professionals.
