Iguwo Ukwu is a general counsel and corporate governance professional with over 31 years post-call experience. His career encompasses a wide range of responsibilities including company secretarial and legal advisory duties, banking and capital market functions, trust and fiduciary services, litigation management, contracts management, labour and industrial relations. He has also worked at executive level in the electricity distribution industry. He has an LL.B (Hons) from the University of Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992. He also has an LL.M from the University of Lagos, and is currently a PhD Candidate at the Faculty of Law, University of Nigeria.
Early in his career, he worked in various roles in legal services and debt recovery at Unity Bank Plc and NNB International Bank Plc respectively. He was also the Managing Director/CEO of Primewealth Nominees Limited and Company Secretary/Legal Adviser of Primewealth Capital Limited. Prior to joining AEDC, he was the Head, Legal/Company Secretary at Enugu Electricity Distribution Plc from 2015 to 2021. He was also an adjunct lecturer in company law and law of contract at Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu.
He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the Business Recovery and Insolvency Practitioners Association of Nigeria (BRIPAN). He is also a trainer on business law, corporate governance, Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) issues, business ethics and sustainability.
